Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Kithunu Mithura does and doesn't do with your data. It applies to the Android app and this website.

Overview

Kithunu Mithura is an offline Bible app. The Sinhala Bible (Old Version), the English KJV, and the Sinhala Hymns are bundled with the app and do not require an internet connection to read. This policy covers the notebook, daily verse notification, and home screen widget features, since those are the parts of the app most likely to raise privacy questions.

Information we collect

Kithunu Mithura does not require you to create an account, and it does not collect your name, email address, or location. The app does not send your Bible reading activity, hymn usage, or notebook entries to any server.

  • Notebook entries — anything you write is stored only in the app's local storage on your device. It is never uploaded, synced, or shared.
  • Reading position and settings — such as your last-read chapter or font size, are stored locally so the app remembers them between sessions.
  • Crash or diagnostic data — if the app uses Google Play's standard crash-reporting service, this may include basic device information (device model, Android version) but no personal content from within the app. This helps fix bugs and is not used for advertising.

Permissions the app requests

  • Notifications — used only to deliver the daily verse reminder. You can turn this off at any time in Android's notification settings for the app.
  • Home screen widget — Android's widget system, used to display today's verse on your home screen. Adding the widget is optional.
  • Storage — used to save your notebook entries and app data locally on your device.

Kithunu Mithura does not request access to your contacts, camera, microphone, or precise location, and does not need any of them to function.

Third parties

The app does not include third-party advertising SDKs. If this changes in a future update, this policy will be updated first, and the update will be reflected in the app's Google Play listing.

Children's privacy

Kithunu Mithura is a general-audience app and does not knowingly collect personal information from children, since no personal information is collected from any user.

Data retention and deletion

Since notebook entries and settings are stored only on your device, uninstalling the app removes this data. There is no server-side account or backup to delete separately.

Changes to this policy

This policy may be updated as the app changes. The "last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
